Who Is In Your Circle?

Updated: Apr 28, 2021

I was on a FB live with Concerned Nuer Women yesterday, which I thought was an interesting discussion. We talked about "Success Stories within Our community."

One question they asked the panelist was, "How did you make it to where you are today?

Of course, I had a multifold answer because success has not been a single event or circumstance in my life.

One thing I was intentional about from the beginning was my circle of influence. I didn't know that was the term, but I knew I was permitting them to influence me directly and indirectly.

There is a story of a group of young men from all races and backgrounds who met in the parking lot every morning before school. A parent investigated and found they were meeting for Bible Study. They reminded me of the importance of my friends when I was growing up. I have several girlfriends that I am very close with, and almost all of us are well off, and it wasn't by accident or luck. We were intentional about our lives.

The following scriptures tell us so, and so did our parents.

"Do not be deceived: bad company ruins good morals.” 1 Corinthians 15:33

"Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm." Proverb 13:20

If you are hanging out with people that aren't doing what you want for yourself, it's only a matter of time before you leave your journey and join them. But it's not too late; you can always choose YOU at any moment!
